Acknowledgement

SLASP acknowledge the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) for awarding Sri Lanka a pain education grant under its Developing Countries Project in 2010 that enabled us to conduct a series of pain education workshops, publish two books and one resource CD on “Pain Management” and the website of SLASP that provide a wealth of information to health care professionals, students and the public.

We take this opportunity to thank all resource persons for their outstanding input by authoring useful content on pain management and contributing to continuous professional education programs (conferences, workshops and seminars) conducted by SLASP. They have generously volunteered to share their expertise with primary care doctors, nurses, students and the public. We also acknowledge the College of Anesthesiologists of Sri Lanka and its Pain Faculty, College of Dentistry and Stomatology of Sri Lanka, Kandy Society of Medicine, Sri Lanka Dental Association and its Kandy Branch and the South Asian Regional Pain Society for the support we had in conducting collaborative workshops, seminars and symposia.

We are obligated to our international advisors Prof. Tissa Wijeratne, Dr. Victor Mendis, Dr. Anura Ariyawardana and Dr. Dilani Wijeratne for their continuous and active contribution to the activities of the SLASP. The kind support extended to us by health professionals and administrative officers in getting logistics organized for our workshop series is very much appreciated. The details are listed under “Workshops conducted”. A special thank goes to Dr. Thilini Rajapakse, who helped in proof reading many pages under resources.

We thank the members of previous councils of the Sri Lanka Association for the Study of Pain and all professionals for their hard work, generous support, and contribution for the continuous education in pain management in Sri Lanka.

Our sincere gratitude is also extended to Ms. Eranthi Perera of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya for doing illustrations and technical assistance in producing this website. Finally the financial assistance we had from local sponsors and well-wishers is kindly appreciated.
