Sri Lanka Association for the Study of Pain
The Sri Lanka Association for the Study of Pain (SLASP) is a non-profit multi-disciplinary organization established on 26th November 2008 aiming to minimize pain and related suffering among patients.
Vision of the SLASP Every Sri Lankan should have ready access to pain control and prevention of pain in all medical and dental disciplines.
Mission of the SLASP Sri Lanka Association for the Study of Pain (SLASP) is a multi disciplinary organization aiming to minimize pain and related suffering among people. SLASP will provide the leadership in clinical practice, education, research and public advocacy across all related disciplines. The association is committed to an interdisciplinary approach to the understanding and better management of acute and chronic pain among people.
Aims of the SLASP SLASP aims to attract and retain all professionals involved in pain management. SLASP also welcomes basic and clinical researchers in pain and pain related conditions. 1. To promote and facilitate the ongoing process of pain related education for health professionals and the community. 2. To provide a platform to discuss issues relating to pain research and treatment. 3. To foster and support scientific research in pain related conditions. 4. To share the expertise of all disciplines involved in the pain management. 5. To promote evidence based approach in pain management With workshops, seminars, conferences, web resources and publications, the SLASP is trying to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice to make the ‘evidence based practice’ more effective. SLASP also creates a wonderful platform for professionals of different specialties to come together to achieve the common objective of alleviating pain in suffering patients. With the attraction of more like-minded health professionals, SLASP grew up gradually, and became the Sri Lankan chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
